Reception of New Candidates during the Memorial Mass of St. John Mary Vianney
Lodonga, Monday 4th October 2025 – On this special day, the entire Catholic Church celebrated the memorial of Saint John Mary Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests. In our SVD community house in Lodonga, we joined in this celebration with a heartfelt Eucharistic celebration.
During the Mass, we especially prayed for two of our new candidates, Gabinho and Benson, who come from South Sudan. In a significant moment, they were formally received as Candidates of the SVD South Sudan–Uganda Mission, beginning their Pre-Philosophy (Prepaedeutic) Year at our formation house in Lodonga.
Following the Mass, our candidates received a special blessing from our Vice General Superior, Fr. Savier, SVD, who is currently visiting our mission. We also took some memorable photos together to mark this joyful occasion.
We continue to give thanks to God for the gift of vocation and for the presence of Fr. Savier, who not only celebrated the Mass but also prayed and blessed our community, especially our new candidates.
