Holy Childhood Choir Competitions for SVD 150 Years Jubilee
Starting from Saturday, 14th June 2025, we have begun organizing weekly competitions for the Holy Childhood choirs from the five zones of Bidibidi Settlement. These competitions are part of our preparations for the 150 Years Jubilee of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) and aim to deepen the children’s faith and knowledge of the Church’s mission.
Competition Activities:
The competitions include:
Catechetical knowledge about the SVD and its 150-year history,
Jubilee songs specially prepared for this celebration,
Saint Bakhita trivia, honoring her as the patron saint of South Sudan and Sudan.
Today’s competition took place in Zone 2 – Swinga, with enthusiastic participation and joyful singing.
Over the next five weeks, we will continue visiting each zone. The grand finale will be held on 19th July 2025, and it will feature:
The final choir competition,
Poster presentations for the 150th Jubilee of the SVD,
A drama about Saint Bakhita, performed by the children.
Our Hope:
Through this joyful and faith-filled initiative, we pray that the Holy Childhood children grow in the love and mercy of God, strengthen their faith, and become witnesses of Jesus Christ in their daily lives.
