15th Sunday in Ordinary Time – A Joyful Mission Day
Today, the whole Catholic Church celebrated the 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time. We also went to Saint Arnold Janssen Parish and several chapels within the Bidibidi Settlement to celebrate the Holy Mass and administer the Sacraments. This Sunday, many Christians attended the celebrations. With joyful hearts, they prayed, sang, and danced—giving thanks to God, praying for the sick, and asking for peace in the whole world.
At Saint Bakhita Chapel and Ave Maria Chapel, we had the great joy of baptizing several children during the Mass. Seeing the smiles on their faces, we felt deeply that our Christian community is alive and joyful. Their children are now baptized—becoming children of God, friends of Jesus, and members of the worldwide Catholic Church. After the Mass, we took some memorable photos with the families.
Moreover, together with the community, we visited the sick and brought them Holy Communion. After the visit, we returned to the chapels and shared a warm lunch with the faithful.
At the end of our mission day, we returned home and enjoyed community time together. All the SSpS Sisters joined us for supper at our house. During the meal, we shared joyful and funny stories about our mission experiences that day. We also celebrated a brother’s birthday and joyfully marked the Independence Day of South Sudan. Additionally, we welcomed two new candidates who are visiting us to experience SVD community life.
We thank God for giving us this day of mission, filled with His love and mercy. We are also grateful to all our benefactors who continue to pray for and support us. This Sunday was truly a wonderful and blessed day for our settlement and our communities.
